In the autumn 2020 application round of the Post Docs in Companies (PoDoCo) program, 17 doctoral-business collaboration projects received funding. Altogether 34 doctors and companies applied for funding.
One of the PoDoCo funded projects is the collaboration project of post-doc Vijay Singh Parihar from the Tampere University and Brinter Ltd. The PoDoCo grant was awarded by Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, and Vijay will start his foundation-funded research period on the first of May 2021. The topic of this collaboration project is Dual Crosslinkable Hydrogels for Biofabrication of 3D in vitro and in vivo Tissue Engineering Scaffolds.
An ideal bioink should possess the desired physicochemical properties, such as proper mechanical, rheological, chemical and biological properties. To address this, Vijay will design hydrogel-based bioink using two different novel crosslinking chemistries (thermal- and photocrosslinking) and study the biofabrication of this novel hydrogel using 3D bioprinting, two-photon polymerization (2PP) and photolithography.
The research will promote the development of innovative hydrogel-based bioink solutions that Brinter Ltd is then able to utilize as a part of its future bioink portfolio.
